Become A Substitute

The Early Care and Education Substitute Pool is designed to support family child care and child care center providers in their professional development. State funding is currently available for certain allowable activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Visit MERIT and
  • Apply for a STARS ID Number
  • Complete the Portable Background Check application
Complete the Child Care Basics training. Register for Child Care Basics here.
Complete the CPR/First Aid/BBP training. Register for CPR/First Aid/BBP here.
Complete the Safe Sleep training. Go to the DCYF Student Portal to register for the Safe Sleep training.
Complete the Mandated Reporter training. Go to the DCYF Student Portal to register for the Mandated Reporter training.
Obtain a TB test at your local health department or physician. For more information, go to Department of Health, Where Do I Get a TB Test?
Please submit a photo of yourself for your directory profile and substitute badge. Tips for taking your own headshot.
