The Early Care and Education Substitute Pool is designed to support family child care and child care center providers in their professional development. State funding is currently available for certain allowable activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Complete the following online training:
    • Infant Safe Sleep
    • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Complete the following three in-person classes:
    • Child Care Basics
    • CPR First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens
    • Substitute Orientation

COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESPONSE

BECOME AN EMERGENCY SUBSTITUTE

For those wishing to work as an emergency substitute, you must:

  1. Be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Create an account in MERIT.
  3. Complete a Portable Background Check with the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
  4. Check the “Interested in working as a substitute” box in MERIT.
Once DCYF has your information and you are cleared to work in emergency-licensed child care facilities, the Imagine Institute will contact you as requests for substitutes come in from child care providers in your area.
