There’s a chill in the air, and that means the season is changing from summer to fall. With the cooler weather, it’s time to think about some fun activities to do both indoors and outdoors. We have put together a list of ideas you can choose from to get kids excited about the fall season.
Fall Stained Glass Window – This unique activity will get kids involved and leave a lasting reminder of the fall season. First, have kids gather a bunch of different colored leaves from outside. Then grab a sheet of contact paper (this can be purchased online ahead of time), and add the leaves onto the paper. Since contact paper is sticky, the leaves will stick to the paper. Then press the contact paper with the leaves onto one of your windows. This will create a temporary stained glass effect that you can leave on during Fall, and take off when you are done.

Cardboard Roll Leaf Stamps – Instead of finding leaves on the ground, you can have your kids stamp them onto a sheet of paper. Start by cutting an empty toilet paper roll, or paper towel roll, down the middle. Squeeze the two sides together to make an oval shape, and tape it back together. Then dip one end into some paint, and have the kids stamp out some leaves onto a sheet of paper. The kids can leave them outlined on the paper, or color them in however they like. You can use different rolls for different colors.

Make Homemade Fall Play Dough – This is always a favorite with kids. You don’t need to buy play dough, you can make it at home using the recipe in the link provided. You may also want to add in some fall colors and flavors. You can even put cinnamon in the dough to make it smell warm and cozy. Then you can have kids shape the dough into leaves, or even use it to make pine cone or acorn pressings.

Fall Sensory Bin – There are so many sights, sounds, and smells during the fall, it’s a fun idea to put a few things together into a sensory bin. Simply pick some things out of your yard, or in your neighborhood, like leaves, sticks, bark, or pinecones, and put them in separate bowls for kids to observe. They can see them, touch them, and interact with the season using their senses.
